Esteban Andres Cruz was born in Berwyn and raised in Cicero and is thrilled to have finally found a home with the Factory! After 83 years working in Chicago theatre, being passed around from company to company it was with this motley crew of broken misfit toys that he found his niche for over-the-top, dance-happy, super fun gay aesthetics. First as the rainbow chaser, Hot Douggie in the hit show: Hey! Dancin! then as the Sammy Davis Jr. character, Gary Thain in the Factory's rat-pack parody / tribute / musical: Easy 6. Happy to be the token, Esteban is really hoping that his part in the company will get grants through the typical routes of multiculturalism, gayness and being a person with a disability! Go blindness!!! People who have tasted this sweet action include: Strawdog, Teatro Vista, The Hypocrites, The House, Oak Park Shakes, Piven, Writers, Victory Gardens, Scooty & Jojo, Lyric Opera, Raven, Theatre at the Center...Esteban is a graduate of iO and the School at Steppenwolf ('09) and that same year, he received the Jeff Award for Best Actor in his portrayal of Angel Cruz in Raven's production of Jesus Hopped the 'A' Train...it was real dramatical n' shit. His film, A Very Harold & Kumar Christmas hits theatres this fall. Danny (Machete) Trejo plays Esteban's uncle! |
